What is Kozi Worx about?
We aim to overcome real challenges for aviation in Africa!
- by offering safe, modern, locally assembled aircraft at car prices,
- advocating for optimization of aviation legislation,
- and pursuing the goal of a quality airstrip in reach of the majority of the population.
Africa needs attainable aviation now because:
- Many yearn to fly, but cannot afford it. Getting a license is expensive due to high operating costs of ancient aircraft and regulatory hurdles, not to mention the extreme cost of private ownership and operation (outside of South Africa).
- In spite of the relative expense of getting a flying license, few own aircraft. That indicates a huge market in a continent in the middle of a growth spurt.
- Africa is huge and yet often, road infrastructure is poor. Much time and expense can be saved by flying… almost always more safely than driving.
- Public services such as medical transport and catastrophe response, wildlife conservation, border patrol and anti-terrorism activities, traffic and infrastructure monitoring, parcel transport and much more could greatly benefit from affordable aviation assets.
- A skilled workforce is leaving the continent or seeking employment in other sectors for lack of job opportunities.
Our Solution:
- Advance a culture of safety and high standards while pursuing the pasion, joy and freedom of flight.
- Grow our strong team of experienced plane builders, our capacity and our facility locations.
- Develop two production locations (Kenya and South Africa) with more to come. Our multi-location strategy is intentional and designed to manage regulatory, economic, and political risk.
- Introduce plane-share programs that facilitate aircraft ownership.
- Cultivate an aviation community that enables recreational aviation to thrive and advocates for legislative modernization.
What's with the weird name?
Kozi
"Kozi" is the Swahili word for falcon, a kind of bird that is native in every African country. It possesses an unbelievable flight performance envelope, from hovering over a target, to flying as the fastest animal on our planet as well as having incredible eyesight and deadly talons. Every aviator dreams of being able to move, fly and see like a falcon.
Worx
"Worx" is a an homage to the legendary Skunk Works organization in California, which has been responsible for developing some of the most iconic and technologically advanced aircraft in aviation history. We also want to make history with our hard work and creativity and a by Africa / for Africa approach.
